Men's Lacrosse Drops Road Game at Shorter, 21-2

ROME, Ga. --- The Lees-McRae men's lacrosse team dropped a 21-2 decision to Shorter in a nonconference game Saturday afternoon at Ben Brady Field in Rome, Ga.

The Shorthawks (5-7) had a trio of players record a hat trick while Matt Kristiansen led the way with five goals. The Bobcats (0-11) forced 16 turnovers.

Kristiansen and Kyle VanKauwenberg did most of the damage early on while combining for five goals and an assist as SU led 7-0 halfway through the second quarter.

LMC's Dalton Lamb (Clemmons, N.C.) put his squad on the board with an unassisted goal at the 6:12 mark in the second quarter.

The Shorthawks responded with a 13-0 run while nine different players notched a goal.

Zachery Dirkse and James VandenBrink combined for 12 shots and six goals in the contest.

The Bobcats' Nick Meyer (St. Louis, Mo.) found the back of the net with 4:59 remaining the contest following a pass from Dominick Hamilton (Beech Mountain, N.C.).

Junior Benjamin Shifflett (Clemmons, N.C.) earned 18 saves on the day while SU held the groundball advantage, 33-10.

The Bobcats welcome Mars Hill in their last home game of the year on Wednesday, April 9 at 4 p.m. at Tate Field.
