Coach Rich Wall Interview
Sophomore Tyler Pavlet Interview
BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Junior Maurice Kleinert tallied a goal for the second match in a row and sophomore netminder Tyler Pavlet has earned back-to-back shutouts while the Lees-McRae men's soccer team blanked Barton, 2-0, in Conference Carolinas play Monday evening at Tate Field in Banner Elk, N.C.
The Bobcats (7-6, 4-3 CC) stayed hot by winning a season-high third consecutive match and has only allowed three goals in the month of October. The Bulldogs (1-10-1, 0-7-1) were only able to muster four shots on the evening.
Kleinert (Hannover, Germany) got the offense rolling early when his header off a Matthew Cureton (Waxhaw, N.C.) corner and James Abraham (Maidstone, England) deflection found the back of the net at the 15:27 mark.
BC's Alex Blake was responsible for the visitor's two shots in the first half while Pavlet (Goodyear, Ariz.) made a save with five minutes remaining in the first.
Pavlet has amassed three clean slates on the year.
Sophomore Thomas Deeley (Timaru, New Zealand) delivered three shots on goal in the second half before dishing out an assist to Nathan Watt (Newcastle, United Kingdom).
Deeley flicked a ball to Watt, who took advantage of a 1v1 situation and was able to best Jens Madsen Hordvik.
LMC kept the blank slate intact when a heads up play by the defense led to a team save at the 69:29 mark after a Rodrigo Neves header.
Deeley led all players with five shots.
Coach Rich Wall's squad welcomes North Greenville for a CC tilt Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. at Tate Field.
