Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Aces Wild By Bobcats in Offensive Showcase Against Pfeiffer, 3-0

BANNER ELK, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae volleyball team recorded 15 service aces while throttling Pfeiffer, 25-10, 25-12, 25-21 in Conference Carolinas action during Dig Pink/Teal Night Friday evening at Williams Gymnasium in Banner Elk, N.C.

The Bobcats (5-17, 4-7 CC) hit progressively better in each set while Haylee Leonard (Wallburg, N.C.) and Avalon Liscio (Naples, Fla.) led the team with eight kills each. The Falcons (1-16, 0-11) remain winless in conference play after only amassing 20 kills, compared to LMC's 37.

With the win, the Bobcats are in prime position to make the postseason as they lead PU by four matches with five conference tilts remaining. LMC clinches a spot with a Falcons loss.

Sophomore Laneica Williams (Conover, N.C.) jumpstarted a 7-2 run in the first with a pair of kills before a Madison Martin (Goldsboro, N.C.) ace.

PU rallied back and cut the deficit to two, 9-7, after a Kayla Hyatt block.

Consecutive aces from senior Jordan Banta (Virginia Beach, Va.) and kills from Jennifer Lewis (Brunswick, Md.) and Allyson Schillinger (Spring Hill, Fla.) spearheaded a 16-3 run to conclude the set.

The Falcons swung at a dismal -.192 clip.

Sophomore Courtney Weathersbee (Raleigh, N.C.) showed a pair of aces early in the second while propelling LMC to an 11-4 lead.

Coach William Tatge's squad had 10 aces in the second set.

Sophomore Taylor Hicks (Blountville, Tenn.) had three while LMC pushed the lead 21-9.

Following a Rachel Cutshaw (Whitesburg, Tenn.) kill, fittingly, Weathersbee ended the set with another ace.

The Falcons bounced back and led most of the third and took a 16-13 lead after an Erin Errington kill.

Tied at 20, Cutshaw smashed home a pair of kills while the Bobcats swung at an astounding .484 clip.

Schillinger led both teams with 17 assists while Jariliz Cotté (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) led the squad with eight digs.

The Bobcats welcome Belmont Abbey Saturday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. to Williams Gymnasium.
