BREVARD, N.C. --- Lepreece Lynch hit a 12-foot floater in the lane with 1.8 seconds remaining to lift the Lees-McRae men's basketball team to an 84-83 victory against Brevard in nonconference play at Boshamer Gymnasium Sunday afternoon in Brevard, N.C.
The Bobcats (3-5) collected their second consecutive win while senior Kendall Isler (Winder, Ga.) paced the team with 17 points. The Tornados (0-5) remain winless despite a career-high 33 points from senior Miles Leathers.
Coach Steve Hardin's squad has knocked down at least 10 three-pointers in five straight, while hitting at 14 in three of them.
BC's Demarcus Threatt impressed with 26 points.
The first 10 minutes of the contest was a see-saw battle while LMC maintained a three-point advantage, 17-14, despite a layup from Leathers.
The Bobcats took control of the game with a 24-8 run, sparked by a three from Zach Wilmoth (Dobson, N.C.) and Isler.
Junior Avery Wallis (Wilkesboro, N.C.) drained a long three before a pair of buckets from senior Austin Anderson (Anderson, S.C.).
Anderson played well by contributing 14 points, six rebounds and three assists.
The Tornados got the offense going with a 9-2 run in the last 1:40 of the first half while Leathers and Threatt were responsible for all nine points.
LMC shot a staggering 54.8% from the field and hit more threes (nine) than field goals (eight).
BC used a three-pointer from Alex Moe to shave the deficit to six, 45-39.
The Bobcats retorted with a 7-0 run to stretch it back to 52-39.
Following buckets from Jack Frank (Tampa, Fla.) and Lynch, BC's defense clamped down.
The Tornados put together an improbable run and took a 69-68 lead after producing a 15-0 run in a span of 3:03.
The final 5:35 provided fireworks after Threatt scored six consecutive points.
LMC was not to be outdone when Darius Malbon (Hickory, N.C.) tied the contest with a tough bucket before drilling a deep three, 82-81, with 52 seconds remaining.
BC captured the lead once again with 10 seconds on the clock after a Threatt layup.
Lynch (Winston-Salem, N.C.) delivered in the clutch when he drove the lane before hit a step-back floater with 1.8 left.
LMC's bench tallied 31 points, compared to BC's one.
The Tornados outscored the Bobcats in the paint, 42-28.
Malbon was lights out and went 5-for-7 from the field, including 3-for-3 from behind the arc.
LMC welcomes Belmont Abbey Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. for a Conference Carolinas tilt.
