Men's Soccer Bounced by Limestone in Semis, 2-0

MISENHEIMER, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae men's soccer team fell to Limestone, 2-0, in a Conference Carolinas Semifinal Friday afternoon at N.E. Lefko Field in Misenheimer, N.C.

The Saints (15-3) advance to the Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Final to battle No. 1 ranked and undefeated Pfeiffer (19-0) at 4 p.m. The Bobcats (11-7) saw an incredible seven-match win streak come to a halt after allowing a goal in each half.

Sophomore Tyler Pavlet (Goodyear, Ariz.) stonewalled a William Picoux shot in the sixth minute to keep it a scoreless match.

Third-team all-conference representative Pol Vassart (Arnhem, France) and sophomore James Morgan (Newcastle, England) forced LC's Tom Godfrey to make a pair of saves in the 12th and 15th minute, respectively.

The Saints grabbed a 1-0 lead after Sam Holden notched a goal at the 33:02 mark while Nestor Aguilar earned the assist.

LC's Nathan Lelievre added an insurance goal with less than three minutes remaining while Noah Sale grabbed an assist.

Morgan paced the team with three shots while Pavlet made two saves.

Vassart was one of six Bobcats to earn all-conference accolades earlier in the afternoon. Senior James Abraham earned the Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year award.

Abraham, Gus Pederson (Sarasota, Fla.), Matthew Cureton (Waxhaw, N.C.), Kevin Ruppert (Fayetteville, N.C.) and Jacob Copeland (Raleigh, N.C.) saw their Bobcat careers come to a close.
