BREVARD, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae softball team fell in a doubleheader at Brevard, 8-0 in six innings and 7-1, Saturday afternoon at BC Softball Field in Brevard, N.C.
Brevard 8, Lees-McRae 0 (6 Innings)
The Tornados (5-4) put up a three spot in the second inning after Hanna Huckabee drove in a run and Dallas Heaton swiped home on a throw to second. Kelsee Grant plated a run with one of her two hits, two batters later.
The Bobcats (1-6) struggled at the dish while Sarah Stallings (Greensboro, N.C.) and Kirsten Waters (Umatilla, Fla.) were the only LMC batters to record a hit.
BC extended the lead to five following a RBI double from Casey Whitaker and run-scoring single from Huckabee.
The Tornados collected four of their 14 hits in the sixth and used two more runs to wrap up play in the lid opener.
Jamie Hrobak picked with 5.1 innings of shutout ball. She struck out 10 batters.
Brevard 7, Lees-McRae 1
LMC (1-7) took an early 1-0 lead after senior Amanda Decker (Apex, N.C.) plated Stallings on a RBI groundout.
Whitaker connected on a two-run shot in the bottom of the third before Kelsey Parrish unloaded on a three-run bomb an inning later.
Huckabee continued to pester Bobcat pitching with a RBI single up the middle in the fifth.
BC added an insurance run in the sixth on a Heaton double.
Sophomore Charlie Dutton (Monroe, Ga.) suffered the loss after allowing five runs in four innings of work.
LMC travels to Tusculum Tuesday, Feb. 17 for a doubleheader at 2 & 4 p.m. in Greeneville, Tenn.
