Lombardo Tallies 22 Saves in Loss at St. Leo

ST. LEO, Fla. --- Sophomore Dane Carney tallied four goals on seven shots and freshman Jordan Lombardo amassed a season-high in saves while the Lees-McRae men's lacrosse team dropped a 17-8 decision to St. Leo Thursday evening at University Turf in St. Leo, Fla.

The Lions (4-2) jumped to a 9-0 lead while Jake Kavanagh led both teams with eight groundballs. The Bobcats (0-6) saw Lombardo (York, Pa.) produce his best game at netminder with 22 saves.

SLU grabbed a 9-0 lead following five assists from Jake Gilmour in the first 22 minutes of action.

Dylan Yonts notched four goals and an assist during the run.

LMC cut the deficit to six, 9-3, after three different Bobcats scored a goal in a 4:14 span.

The brotherly due of Mike and Tony LaGuardia helped the Lions stretch the lead to 11, 14-3, by combining for three goals and two assists.

Carney (Manchester, England) scored three of his four goals in the third and fourth quarter.

LMC's Tanner Jones (Comox Valley, B.C.) found the back of the net with two seconds remaining on a stellar play while Dillon Quinn (Greensboro, N.C.) earned the assist.

The Bobcats welcome Alderson-Broaddus Sunday, March 15 at 7 p.m. to Tate Field.
