Bobcats Drop Tough Bout at Emmanuel (Ga.), 12-6

FRANKLIN SPRING, Ga. --- Freshman Tanner Jones notched a pair of goals and Jordan Lombardo amassed 18 saves while the Lees-McRae men's lacrosse team fell 12-6 to Emmanuel (Ga.) Saturday afternoon in Franklin Springs, Ga.

The Lions (2-6, 1-2 Conference Carolinas) used hat tricks from Shawn Sagraves and Austin Brundage to earn their first conference win. The Bobcats (1-8, 0-4) saw five different players register a goal.

Lombardo (York, Pa.) notched double-digit saves for the seventh consecutive contest.

Joshua Shingleton (Temecula, Calif.) and Blaine Stottlar (Clinton, N.Y.) tallied first quarter goals while Dane Carney (Manchester, England) earned an assist.

EC scored two goals in the fifth and 11th minute each to take a slim 5-4 lead into halftime.

The Lions outshot LMC 29-11 in the first 30 minutes.

Jones (Comox Valley, British Columbia) scored his first two third quarter goals at the 12:26 mark to tie it at five.

EC responded with a 4-0 run while four different players scored.

Senior Dalton Lamb (Clemmons, N.C.) supplied an assist for Jones with 30 seconds remaining to cut the deficit to three, 9-6.

The Lions' Zachary Cao scored twice in the fourth quarter.

Both offenses were even in groundballs and were successful in clears.

Stottlar led the Bobcats with seven shots.

LMC will enjoy a 10-day break before welcoming Brevard to Banner Elk, N.C. Tuesday, March 31 at 4 p.m.
