GAFFNEY, S.C. --- Freshman Ricardo Sanchez tallied his first collegiate goal, but the Lees-McRae men's soccer team suffered a 5-1 setback to No. 12 Limestone in Conference Carolinas action Wednesday evening at Saints Field in Gaffney, S.C.
The Saints (5-1, 2-1 CC) enjoyed a hat trick from Gui Machado in a span of 7:27. The Bobcats (3-3, 1-1) played poised while committing only 10 fouls, compared to LC's 16.
Machado tallied the first three goals for the Saints, included two unassisted.
Down 4-0, Sanchez (Mexico City, Mexico) blasted a bullet past Tom Godfrey from long range at the 38:05.
Tom Deeley (Timaru, New Zealand) and Palle Jespersen (Malente, Germany) and Sanchez recorded two shots each.
Sophomore Tyler Pavlet (Goodyear, Ariz.) made two saves on the night.
LMC faces Pfeiffer in a tough CC contest Saturday, Sep. 26 at 7 p.m. in Misenheimer, N.C.
