YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. --- Junior Maurice Kleinert and freshman Palle Jespersen tallied second-half goals while the Lees-McRae men's soccer team blanked Florida Southern, 2-0, in a neutral-site battle Thursday night at Young Harris, Ga.
The Bobcats (1-0) held the opposition to two shots in the opening half. The Mocs (0-1) failed to notch a goal despite six players recording a shot.
Kleinert (Hannover, Germany) put LMC up, 1-0, at the 59:16 mark when Thomas Deeley (Timaru, New Zealand) sent in a direct kick and Kleinert responded with a header.
The Bobcats extended its lead when Jespersen (Malante, Germany) gathered a Nathan Watt (Newcastle, United Kingdom) pass and blasted it past Cole Clingerman in the 74th minute.
Senior Gus Pederson (Sarasota, Fla.) earned the clean slate with three saves.
LMC returns to action Saturday, Sept. 5 at 5 p.m. when it faces Saint Leo in Young Harris, Ga.
