Men's Soccer Falls in Rain-Soaked Battle with Carson-Newman, 2-0

BOONE, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Carson-Newman in a rain-filled nonconference tilt at Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex Wednesday afternoon in Boone, N.C.

The Eagles (6-1-1) used a shutout form Kavi Luchowa despite playing undisciplined in the second half with 14 fouls. The Bobcats (3-5) amassed 12 shots while goalie Tyler Pavlet (Goodyear, Ariz.) made four saves.

The contest saw a 2 hour, 38 minute lightening and rain delay with only 28:45 remaining in the second half.

CNU's Lucas Siqueira took advantage of a failed clear attempt in the 15th minute and was able to find the back of the net.

After the rain delay, Tom Read notched his first goal of the year when he shot across the goal and hit the post and the ball ricocheted in.

Marvyn Rieger (Frankfurt, Germany) had a golden opportunity when his header went just inches high.

The freshmen duo of Palle Jespersen (Malente, Germany) and Pol Vassart (Arnhem, France) peppered Luchowa with a pair of shots in two seconds, but was unable to tally a goal.

LMC hosts Barton at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 at Tate Field as part of Homecoming Weekend.
