Molander Scores Twice in Road Tilt at Alderson Broaddus

PHILIPPI, W. Va. --- Freshman Alec Molander tallied his first two collegiate goals and Cameron Castle amassed 18 saves, but the Lees-McRae men's lacrosse team dropped 19-4 decision to Alderson Broaddus at Multi-Sport Performance Field Saturday afternoon in Philippi, W. Va.

The Battlers (2-1) used a four-goal performance from Jake Weddell while Jonathan Carr chipped in with two and 13 shots. The Bobcats (0-2) saw junior Louis Parks (Mays Landing, N.J.) scoop a team-high seven groundballs.

Parks and Molander (Saanichton, British Columbia) scored goals in a span of 1:39 to cut a 4-0 deficit in half.

The talented freshman notched his second goal of his career with 11:43 remaining in the third.

Junior Dane Carney (Manchester, England) found sophomore Tanner Jones (Comox Valley, British Columbia) with 52 ticks left in the third for a goal.

Jones led LMC with 10 shots while Blaine Stottlar (Clinton, N.Y.) had five.

Castle (Fort Collins, Colo.) had five or more saves in each of the first three periods.

The Bobcats held a 17-13 advantage on groundballs in the second half while junior Allan Smith (Honeoye, N.Y.) won six face offs in the contest.

LMC welcomes Notre Dame de Namur Saturday, March 5 at 1 p.m. at Tate Field.
