BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Freshman Cole Douglas-Fields won a three-set thriller while the Lees-McRae men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to Lee Friday afternoon at the LMC Tennis Courts in Banner Elk, N.C.
The Flames upped their record to 10-7 while the Bobcats fell to 0-8.
Douglas-Fields (Asheville, N.C.) dropped the first set, 6-2, before winning the second, 6-4, and claiming the decisive one, 10-3, against Westley Lemke in No. 6 singles.
Junior Garrett Lakey (North Wilkesboro, N.C.) dropped close 6-4 sets at No. 4 singles.
LMC welcomes King (Tenn.) for a Conference Carolinas tilt Saturday, March 26 at 11 a.m. in Banner Elk, N.C.
