LMC Softball Falls Twice at Day One of The Spring Games

CLERMONT, Fla. --- The Lees-McRae softball team dropped a pair of games Monday morning at the Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.

Minnesota State Mankato 8, Lees-McRae 0 (6 Innings)
The Mavericks improved to 9-4 while the Bobcats fell to 3-14.

MSU bashed out 14 hits and scored five runs in the sixth and overcame a three-error game from its defense.

LMC's Karly McRary (Marion, N.C.) and Emily Merriam (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) tallied the Bobcats two hits.

Sioux Falls 7, Lees-McRae 2
The Cougars (8-4) scored multiple runs in three innings while the Bobcats (3-15) had a pair of players with two hits apiece.

SFU plated three runs in the bottom of the second after amassing four hits.

LMC cut the deficit to one after freshman Kara Cunningham (Indian Trail, N.C.) and Kasey Klutz (Leland, N.C.) plated runs.

Cunningham roped a run-scoring double and advanced to third on an error while Sarah Stallings (Greensboro, N.C.) scored after leading the inning off with a walk.

Klutz followed suit with a sacrifice, run-scoring bunt.

The Cougars scored two runs in the fifth and sixth inning.

Junior Charlie Dutton (Monroe, Ga.) took the loss despite striking out nine.

LMC battles Wheaton (Ill.) and Northwood (Mich.) at 1 & 3 p.m., respectively, in Clermont, Fla.
