DAHLONEGA, Ga. --- The Lees-McRae women's soccer team dropped their season opener to No. 19 North Georgia, 2-0, in nonconference action Thursday evening in Dahlonega, Ga.
The Nighthawks (1-0) held a 26-1 advantage in shots while scoring a pair of second half goals. The Bobcats (0-1) saw goalie Alexis Feely (Raleigh, N.C.) make 12 saves.
UNG's Rachel VanHorn broke a scoreless tie in the 46th minute when Jacy Ramey delivered a through ball for the first goal of the contest.
Ramey scored at the 70:30 mark when she outraced the LMC defense on a counter attack.
LMC's lone shot came off the foot of Emma McGovern (Lexington, N.C.) in the first half.
The Bobcats visit Carson-Newman Saturday, Sep. 3 at 5 p.m. in Jefferson City, Tenn.
