Turnovers plague Bobcats in 88-41 loss at King (TN)

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Lees-McRae College women's basketball team committed 23 turnovers as it fell to King (TN) University in its regular season finale, 88-41, Friday evening in Bristol, Tenn. Brea Forbes led all scorers with 21 points and added seven rebounds to lead Lees-McRae.

King came out swinging in the opening quarter getting out to a 13-2 lead on the Bobcats. Not only were the Tornado shooting for a high percentage (75 percent), they were forcing several turnovers. In the quarter, the Bobcats turned the ball over eight times, which led to 17 points for King. Due to the sharp-shooting and press defense by King, the Tornado led 33-11 after one.

Neither team had much luck offensively in the first five minutes in the second quarter as they combined for just 11 points. Following the media timeout, however, the Tornado went on a 13-3 run to close out the first half. After the first 20 minutes of play, the Bobcats trailed by a 53-18 score.

Lees-McRae's defense stepped up in the second half holding the Tornado to just 35 points. Unfortunately for LMC, the large deficit built in the first half proved too much to overcome as King went on to win by a final score of 88-41.

The Bobcats finish this season with a 4-24 overall record and a 4-18 mark in league action. LMC had no seniors on this season's squad so the team should remain mostly intact for the 2017-18 season.
