Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Offensive Struggles plague Bobcats in a 69-59 loss to Limestone

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's basketball team started slowly offensively Saturday, which cost them as it dropped a 69-59 decision to Limestone at Williams Gymnasium. The loss moves LMC's record to 5-11 overall and 2-8 in conference play.

Lees-McRae struggled to get things going offensively in the opening 20 minutes of Saturday's contest. LMC shot just 28.1 percent compared to 39.3 from the Saints. With the Bobcats struggling on offense, Limestone vaulted ahead of LMC, 32-25, at the halftime break.

Limestone continued to play well in the second. The Bobcats played much better in the second half thanks in part to a team-high nine points from Brea Forbes. Despite the efforts by Forbes and the rest of the Bobcats, the Saints were able to finish off the 69-59 win to finish off the season sweep of LMC.

For the first time this season, Breana Hardnett led LMC in scoring with 12 points. Forbes finished with 11 points and a team-leading seven rebounds to round out the double figure scorers for LMC. Setting up Lees-McRae's offense was Markia Stacey who registered nine assists on the afternoon.

Next up for the Bobcats is a road game at Emmanuel on Tuesday. The Lions defeated LMC, 74-68, last Saturday in Banner Elk. Tip-off for Tuesday's game is set for 5:30 p.m.
