Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Bobcats drop a high-scoring affair at Barton Friday, 110-105

WILSON, N.C. – For the third time in its past five games, the Lees-McRae College men's basketball team passed the century mark in points but it proved to be not enough as it fell at Barton by a score of 110-105. The loss drops to LMC's record to 8-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

A combination of free throw shooting and bench scoring led the Bulldogs to a 48-43 halftime lead on the Bobcats. Barton attempted 12 more free throws than Lees-McRae in the opening 20 minutes and knocked down 15 of its 24 attempts. Additionally, Barton also received great production from its bench as it accounted for 32 of the team's 48 points in the frame. The duo of Kamil Williams and Jason Saintizaire kept the Bobcats within striking distance, however, as they totaled 12 and 11 points, respectively.

After the halftime break, LMC was able to come back to tie the score at 67-67 with just over 11 minutes to play in regulation. The Bulldogs pulled in front of the Bobcats after that point for good though as they held off the Bobcats, 110-105. The Bobcats did not go away quietly, however, as they battled back to get within four points with 29 and 20 seconds remaining. As mentioned earlier though, the Bulldogs held on for the slim victory.

Several Bobcats had standout performances against Barton Friday. Leading the way was senior Lepreece Lynch as he scored a season-high 27 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the floor. Williams added 22 points of his own, and Saintizaire totaled 17 points on the night.

The Bobcats will look to rebound Saturday night when they visit Mount Olive in another conference matchup. Saturday's game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start time.
