BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's basketball team fell in its regular season finale to King University Friday night at Williams Gymnasium, 64-57. The loss wraps up LMC's regular season record at 10-16 overall and 7-13 in conference action.

King and Lees-McRae both had slow starts to begin Friday's contest with the score sitting at 17-14 after one quarter of play. The Tornado built their lead up to seven points in the second quarter, but the Bobcats would claw back to tie the score at 28 before King added three points before halftime to hold a 31-28 advantage.

Really the difference in Friday's game came in the third quarter. King made six field goals in the frame with five of those being from beyond the arc. Thanks to its sharp-shooting held the lead for the majority of the second half on its way to a 64-57 win over the Bobcats. Even with the Tornado holding the advantage, the Bobcats trailed only by three points with 55 seconds remaining before King connected on another three ball and added a made free throw to clinch the win.

Brea Forbes led LMC in scoring Friday with 15 points on 3-of-9 shooting from the floor to go along with eight rebounds. Forbes did most of her damage from the free throw line going 7-for-8 on the day. Meg Crawford also finished in double figures for Lees-McRae scoring 11 points and grabbing a team-high nine rebounds.

Lees-McRae will return to action next Monday when it heads to Barton to open the Conference Carolinas tournament. The Bobcats, who will be making their first postseason appearance since the 2013-14 campaign, and Bulldogs will get underway at 7 p.m.
