Bobcats drop road contest at Lenoir-Rhyne

HICKORY, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's basketball team fell on Wednesday night against Lenoir-Rhyne University by a final score of 75-54.

The Bobcats had their best run of play during the first quarter. About midway through the period, Lees-McRae found themselves in the lead with the score, 13-11. Karli Mason helped lead the charge with two early shots from behind the arc. The hot shooting would fade however, as the Bobcats would not score the last three minutes of the quarter which allowed Lenoir-Rhyne to regain the lead at 18-13.

In the second quarter, Lees-McRae came out of the huddle shooting the ball well. Jessica Henderson drained a jumper to pull the Bobcats within two at 21-19. The Bears countered with hot shooting of their own, led by Madeline Hardy.

Lenoir-Rhyne proceeded to go on an 11-2 run that stretched into the third quarter. Unfortunately for Lees-McRae, this was a deficit they were never able to overcome. The Bobcats cold shooting would eventually lead to the road loss, falling 75-54.

The Bobcats will return to action Saturday when they face Catawba on the road. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
