Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Bobcats pull away from Tusculum at home

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's basketball team won Thursday night against Tusculum University by a final score of, 87-75.

The first half saw both sides get into foul trouble early and slow the pace of play. With the game played primary in the half-court, the Bobcats turned to big man Andrew Gardner for offense. Gardner was able to use his quickness and smooth finishing ability under the basket to lead Lees-McRae in first half points and help carry the team to a six point advantage at the break.

The second half favored the Bobcats preferred frenetic pace. The largest beneficiary of this change was Quay Kimble. Kimble utilized his speed to both attack the rim and shoot from the outside. Kimble scored 24 of his 27 points in the second half. This change in style also allowed the Bobcats to build their lead and keep Tusculum at bay.

With the win, Lees-McRae improves to 8-2 on the year. The Bobcats will return to action Saturday when they face Belmont Abbey on the road. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
