BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's basketball team defeated Emmanuel College at home on Wednesday afternoon by a final score of, 63-52.
From the opening tip-off, this game was competitive. Both sides were able to find the basket in the first quarter, with a large portion of the Bobcats points coming from behind the arc. After falling behind by five, Lees-McRae were able to up their intensity and close the gap heading into the locker room with score all tied up, 30-30.
The Second half belonged to Tiana Shuff and Destiny Johnson. The due combined for 32 points on the night, most of which came in the third and fourth quarter. Lees-McRae gained momentum as the game came to a close and In the fourth quarter, outscored the Lions, 23-13.
The win improves the Bobcats record to 5-12 overall and 2-7 in conference. Lees-McRae will return to action Saturday when they face Chowan at home. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
