Bobcats fall in three at Lindenwood

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team dropped a three-set decision on the road at Lindenwood University (25-19, 25-18, 25-14) Friday evening. The loss moves Lees-McRae's to 0-2 on the young 2020 campaign.

1st Set – Lindenwood opened the contest attacking at an impressive .333 clip. Despite the hot-hitting Lion offense, the Bobcats were trailing by just two points after a Lindenwood service error to make it 15-13. Lindenwood, however, would rattle off a 6-1 run to extend its lead to 21-14. Lees-McRae would exchange points with the Lions, but it couldn't hold serve to cut into the deficit, and Lindenwood went on to win the opening frame, 25-19.

2nd Set – Lees-McRae once again hung around with the Lions through the most frame in the second. The score was tied at 10 different points, including at 17-17. Unfortunately, Lindenwood put together another run scoring eight of the next nine points to close out the set, 25-18.

3rd Set – In what proved to be the final set of the match, Lindenwood put everything together to pull away from the Bobcats quickly. The Lions totaled 12 kills with just one error on 25 attacks (.500 attack percentage) to go along with five aces. With Lindenwood clicking so well, the Bobcats fell behind quickly and Lindenwood finished off the match with a 25-14 set victory.

Stat StandoutsChris Woolslayer had an efficient attacking night finishing with five kills on nine attacks with no errors for a .556 hitting percentage. Ethan Gardner also had success on the attack with four kills on nine attempts with one error. Setting up Woolslayer and Gardner was Bradley Peters who finished 18 assists to go along with a team-high three aces.

Next Up - The Bobcats will be back in action when they take on Quincy in another non-conference tilt at Lindenwood on Saturday. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
