FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion used a goal off a penalty kick in the 64th minute to escape with a 1-0 win over the visiting Bobcats in the Conference Carolinas contest this afternoon in Florence, South Carolina.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Francis Marion tallied a pair of shots and a corner kick in the first 17 minutes action to grab the early momentum and nearly took an early lead with a pair of shots in the 34th minute, but back-to-back saves by Joshua Garvilla held the score at 0-0.
- Lees-McRae had their only shot attempt of the first half in the 40th minute by Ethan Shelley just miss the frame as the score remained 0-0 at halftime.
- The Bobcats opened with a pair of shots in the first four minutes of the second half, but it was the Patriots who broke the deadlock with a penalty kick goal in the 64th minute.
- Lees-McRae had one final scoring opportunity in the 85th minute on a free kick, from just outside the 18-yard box, that just missed to hold the score at 1-0.
- Garvilla made five saves in goal for the Bobcats.
- Francis Marion held a 15-5 advantage in shots and a 7-0 edge in shots-on-goal in the contest.
FOR THE FOES:
- Alvaro Zamora scored the lone goal for the Patriots.
- Riccardo Rossi earned the victory in goal for Francis Marion, finishing with zero saves in the 90 minutes of action.
