DAHLONEGA, Ga. –
MaKayla Smith and
Destiny Johnson both scored in double figures, while
Malikah Meyers chipped in seven points and seven rebounds, but it was not enough as nationally-ranked North Georgia clinched an 80-46 non-conference win on Day 1 of the Peach Belt vs. Conference Carolinas Challenge this afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Smith shot 2 of 6 from the field and 7 of 9 from the free throw line for 11 points to go along with three assists, while Johnson connected on two of her three shots from behind the three-point line en route to finishing with 11 points.
- Morgan Gray added six points and four rebounds, while Aurora Roberts added six rebounds.
- North Georgia scored 25 of the first 29 points and used a late layup to grab momentum early by taking a 27-8 lead into the first intermission.
- The Nighthawks outscored the Bobcats 20-14 in the second quarter to take a 47-22 halftime lead and extended the lead to 71-32 at the final intermission.
- Lees-McRae outscored the hosts 14-9 in the final 10 minutes of action, but it was not enough as North Georgia closed out the non-conference victory.
FOR THE FOES:
- Julianne Sutton finished with a game-high 22 points to go along with 11 rebounds to lead the Nighthawks, while Josie Earnhardt tallied 15 points.
UP NEXT:
The Bobcats will close out the Peach Belt vs. Conference Carolinas Challenge as they battle Young Harris in a non-conference contest tomorrow at 2 p.m.
