BANNER ELK, N.C. – Chowan held the host Bobcats to only 30 percent shooting from the field and only 18 percent shooting from distance en route to clinching a 71-48 win over the Lees-McRae women's basketball team in the Conference Carolinas opener this afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- MaKayla Smith finished with a team-high nine points to go along with four rebounds and two assists.
- Jessica Henderson and Arriana Lizarraga chipped in eight and seven points respectively, while Destiny Johnson added eight rebounds.
- Both teams traded points for the majority of the first 10 minutes with the Hawks tallying a pair of late free throws to hold a 21-12 lead at the first intermission.
- Chowan extended their lead to as many as 15 in the second quarter and held a 42-29 edge at halftime.
- The Hawks outscored the Bobcats 29-19 in the second half to clinch the conference win.
- Chowan held a 50-35 rebounding edge and finished with a 20-5 advantage in second-chance points.
FOR THE FOES:
- Three Hawks posted double figures, led by Destiny Robinson who finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
- Aniah Patterson chipped in 12 points and eight rebounds.

The Bobcat will return to the McNair & Debi Tornow Court on Tuesday, Nov. 30 as they host "Battle for the Blue Ridge Cup" rival King at 5 p.m.
