North Greenville surges past Men’s Basketball, 91-75

TIGERVILLE, S.C.Quay Kimble and Malik McConnell both scored in double figures, but it wasn't enough as North Greenville shot over 54 percent from the floor and 42 from distance en route to clinching a 91-75 win over the visiting Bobcats in the Conference Carolinas contest this evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Kimble scored a team-high 19 points on 5 of 8 shooting from behind the three-point line to go along with four assists.
  • McConnell chipped in 10 points and two assists, while Jamarius Hairston added nine points.
  • Anthony Hicks and Justin Nichelson each finished with eight points.
  • North Greenville used a 17-6 within a seven-minute stretch in the first half to grab momentum.
  • The Bobcat returned the favor with a 18-10 run of their own to trim the deficit to 39-36 with three minutes left before halftime.
  • The Crusaders used a late jumper to extend the lead to 45-38 at halftime.
  • Lees-McRae cut the lead to 47-45 with 17 minutes remaining on a put-back dunk by Gabe Bryant and a three-point field goal by Hairston.
  • North Greenville scored 26 of the next 41 points to push the lead back to 73-60 with seven minutes left.
  • The Crusaders maintained a double-digit lead for the rest of the contest.
  • Lees-McRae held a 20-13 edge in points off turnovers, but were outscored 14-7 in second-chance points and 34-26 in points in the paint.
 
FOR THE FOES:
  • Tracus Chisholm finished with a game-high 20 points to pace the Crusaders.
  • Jalen Cokley and Kameron Hobbs each finished with 15 points and combined to grab seven rebounds.
 
UP NEXT:
The Bobcats will host Belmont Abbey on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.
