SPARTANBURG, S.C. –
Haley Donovan and
Madi Barry combined for seven goals, while
Abigail Brucks finished with 11 saves, as the Lees-McRae women's lacrosse team posted a 12-9 road victory at Converse to match the program's best start to a season since 2013.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Donovan finished with four goals on five shots to pace the Bobcats, while Barry chipped in three goals.
- Nim Castro scored twice, while Sydney Floyd, Shannan Korovich, and Kelsi Williams also scored.
- After Lees-McRae opened the scoring just 90 seconds into the contest, the Valkyries scored five of the next six goals to take a 5-3 lead with 12 minutes left in the first half.
- Donovan, Castro, and Barry scored four unanswered goals in the final 11 minutes to take a 7-5 halftime lead.
- The momentum carried over to the second half as Lees-McRae scored the first four goals of the second half, all while playing a player down, to extend the lead to 11-5.
- Converse scored the next four goals in a six-minute span to trim the deficit to 11-9, but the Bobcats used a final goal by Korovich to clinch the road victory.
- Lees-McRae held a 28-20 edge in shots-on-goal and won 19 of the 23 total groundballs.
FOR THE FOES:
- Sharlize Burgos scored five goals to pace the Valkyries.
- Madalynn Brunner made a game-high 16 saves in net for Converse.

The Bobcats return to Tate Field for the first time since Feb. 15 as they host Mount Olive on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
