Taylor Barrineau scored her first goal as a Bobcat in the 85th minute off an assist by
Pali Smith, while
Hope Sanborn and
Mallory Roughton combined to make eight saves, as the fourth-seeded Lees-McRae women's soccer team tied No. 5 Belmont Abbey, 1-1, to open up the home-and-home series of the Conference Carolinas Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lees-McRae had multiple scoring chances in the first half, finishing with five first-half corner kicks, and nearly broke through on a header by Roughton in the 29th minute.
- After a scoreless opening half, the Bobcats and the Crusaders held each other in check for the first 25 minutes of the second stanza until Belmont Abbey broke through with a goal in the 71st minute.
- Lees-McRae returned the favor by scoring in the 85th minute as Barrineau headed home a cross from Smith.
- The Crusaders held a combined 4-1 shots edge in the overtime sessions as the game ended with a 1-1 tie after 110 minutes of action.
- Due to conference guidelines and to determine a tiebreaker, the game went into a penalty shootout with Belmont Abbey finishing with a 3-2 edge. Both Olivia Hoirup and Gen Porsche scored penalty kicks for the Bobcats.
- The Crusaders held a slim 9-6 edge in shots-on-goal, while Lees-McRae finished with an 11-3 advantage in corner kicks.

- Goose Andrews scored the goal for the Crusaders off an assist by Emily Doty.
- Lauryn Harding made five saves in goal for Belmont Abbey.
