Second-quarter run lifts Barton past Men’s Lacrosse, 19-8

WILSON, N.C.Ryan Beauchamp, Mike Moore and J.P. Daniels combined to score seven goals, but it was not enough as Barton scored 13 first-half goals to clinch a 19-8 win over the visiting Bobcats in the Conference Carolinas action this afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Beauchamp scored a team-high three goals to go along with a pair of ground balls.
  • Moore and Daniels each chipped in two goals, with Moore adding five ground balls.
  • Ryan Bird also scored, while J.P. Galloway and Tyler Finley each finished with an assist.
  • Barton sprinted out of the gates by scoring five of the first six goals, with the lone Bobcat goal going to Beauchamp, to hold a 5-1 lead after the first 15 minutes of action.
  • Daniels (two goals) and Bird both scored in the second frame, while the Bulldogs returned the favor with eight goals to hold a 13-4 halftime advantage.
  • The Bobcats trimmed the deficit to 14-6 on back-to-back goals by Beauchamp and Moore, but Barton scored the final three goals of the stanza to claim a 17-6 lead at the final intermission.
  • Both teams tacked on a pair of insurance markers in the final quarter to complete the scoring.
  • Antonio Cruz and Joshua Csanyi shared time in net for the Bobcats and tallied a combined 13 saves.
  • Barton held a 32-22 shots-on-goal advantage and held Lees-McRae to 1-9 on extra-man opportunities.
 
FOR THE FOES:
  • Tyler Thompson and Mark Crawford both scored three goals to pace the Bulldogs.
  • Zach Hodge tallied a game-high four assists, while Guiseppe Brown and Trevor Witholt combined to make 14 saves.
 
UP NEXT:
The Bobcats will return to action next Saturday as they visit Chowan in a 12 p.m. conference showdown.
