JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. –
Deanna Betzer broke the Lees-McRae record in the 5,000-meter run, while two other Bobcats joined Betzer in posting top-six finishes, to lead the Lees-McRae men's and women's indoor track & field teams on the opening day of the ETSU Indoor Invitational this afternoon.

FRIDAY NOTABLES:
- Betzer sprinted to a time of 18:49.58 in the 5,000-meter run, which was good enough for fifth overall (second highest finish by a NCAA Division II runner in that event) and broke the previous record by 34 seconds that was set in 2007.
- Christian Bargaineer posted the best finish by a Bobcat on Day 1 by finishing fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.40 meters.
- Max Geckler crossed sixth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:09.48, while Britney Augustin finished 10th in the 400-meter run (1:02.64) and 16th in the 60-meter dash (8.07).
- Jean Origene finished 11th in the 60-meter dash (6.96), with Jeff Nickerson and J.D. Green crossing 16th (52.22) and 18th (52.40) in the 400-meter run respectively.
