CHARLOTTE, N.C. –
Michael Marsans finished with a match-high 18 kills, while
Bradley Peters chipped in 22 assists and nine digs, but it was not enough as host Queens (N.C.) held a 13-4 advantage in service aces en route to clinching the three-set sweep of the visiting Bobcats in the season opener this afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Max Kuntz and Steven Nalls both finished with eight digs, while M.J. Doyle added six digs.
- Lees-McRae and Queens traded points for the majority of the first set until the Royals closed the frame by scoring six of the final eight points to clinch the set, 25-20.
- After Queens used an early run to post a 25-12 win in set two, Lees-McRae battled back from an early deficit in the third set to even the score at 18-18 on a kill by Marsans.
- The Bobcats rallied a second time to even the score at 25-25 on a kill by Peters, but a final service ace gave the Royals the non-conference win.
- Both teams finished with 30 kills, while Queens held a slim 7-4 edge in blocks.
FOR THE FOES:
- Jack Brinkman finished with nine kills to pace the Royals.
- Brandon Grabow and Ananias Hayes chipped in 24 assists and nine digs respectively.
