WILSON, N.C. -- Lees-McRae women's volleyball dropped a three-set match to Barton this evening in Conference Carolinas action.
Julia Emore had a season-best 20 assists and
Sydney Stigler led the Bobcats with her fourth straight match in double-digit kills.
THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Barton def. Lees-McRae, 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 26-24)
LOCATION: Wilson Gymnasium -- Wilson, North Carolina
RECORDS: Lees-McRae (6-19/5-10); Barton (5-14/4-8)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Stigler recorded her fourth match in a row with double-digit kills as the freshman Outside Hitter had 13 kills and added 12 digs in the contest.
- Barton used a four-point run to push their lead to 24-16 in the first set and closed the set out at 25-18 with a kill by Allison Gambill.
- In the second set, the Bulldogs built an early 3-0 lead, but the Bobcats knotted the score at 12 apiece after back-to-back setting errors by Barton. The Bulldogs used a five-point swing to lead 17-12 and closed the second set after a service ace via Gambill at 25-19.
- Lees-McRae jumped out to an early three-point advantage in the third set, but Barton rallied with six consecutive points to take the lead at 9-5. The Bobcats had a four-point swing in their favor after a block by Destiny Holley at 13-11, but Barton took the lead back at 19-17. The two sides traded points before Barton collected the set and the match victory at 26-24 after a double block by Barton's Gambill and Morgan Shaw.
- Emore had a season-high 20 assists for Lees-McRae in the match and Annalaine Tew followed Stigler in the kills category with six.
- The Bulldogs outhit the Bobcats, .319 to .183, with Barton having 42 total kills in the match.
FOR THE BULLDOGS:
- Gambill paced the Bulldogs in the three sets with 20 kills and added nine digs to her season totals.
- Madison Greene started the offensive attack for Barton with 21 assists and Hailey Strey followed with 17.
