BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae men's soccer battled to a 1-1 draw with non-conference opponent Shaw on Wednesday night on Tate Field.
Tamino Brown scored the lone goal for the Bobcats in the fifth minute off a through ball by
Ryan Aliam.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Brown collected his first goal of the season in the fifth minute after the ball hit under the cross bar and passed the goal as Lees-McRae had the one-goal advantage.
- M.J. Upchurch made five quality stops in the middle stages of the first half as the Bobcats entered the halftime break with the 1-0 lead.
- The Bears found the equalizer in the 56th minute of play as Wissem Obeid scored off an assist by Lemar Catlyn.
- Shaw went down a man in the 56th minute of play after Kyle Hatmaker registered his second yellow of the contest.
- Fletcher Dyson almost had the go-ahead goal in the 58th minute, but Shaw's goalkeeper kept the contest even at one goal with a quality save.
- Upchurch gathered in three more saves in the 65th and 66th minutes of action in the contest as the two sides battled to a 1-1 draw on Tate Field this evening.
- Upchurch made nine saves on the night for the Bobcats with Brown tallying two shots on target on the offensive end.
- Dyson and Harrison Watts also had shots on goal for Lees-McRae in the 1-1 draw.
FOR THE BEARS:
- Obeid led the Bears with three shots on target and Hatmaker also joined Obeid with three shots on net.
- Shaw held the 16-11 shots advantage and 11-4 shots

Lees-McRae is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 8 when the Bobcats travel to Wilson, North Carolina for a Conference Carolinas matchup with Barton.
