Emore Posts Third Triple-Double of Season as Women's Volleyball Falls in Five Sets against Converse

BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Lees-McRae women's volleyball dropped a tough five-set match on Saturday afternoon against Converse as the two sides competed in the first round of the Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship at King University. Julia Emore collected her third triple-double of her freshman campaign as she had 10 kills, 19 assists, and 13 digs in the match.

FINAL SCORE: No. 5 Converse def. No. 4 Lees-McRae, 3-2 (17-25, 25-27, 25-21, 25-14, 19-17)

RECORDS: Lees-McRae (7-23/6-12); Converse (9-18/5-13)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • In the third matchup of the season for both teams, Converse used a reverse sweep to advance to the second round of the conference tournament in today's action. Sydney Stigler led the Bobcats with a match-high 18 kills and collected a double-double with 15 digs in the contest.
  • Lees-McRae rolled to a first-set victory after breaking the set open at 21-14 with six straight points as Emore finished the run with a service ace. The Bobcats tallied the 25-17 set victory in the opening set.
  • The second set proved to be even between both teams as Lees-McRae knotted the score at 12 apiece after a block assist Emore and Destiny Holley. The Bobcats evened the score at 25 after a set point for Converse, but Lees-McRae scored the last three points to earn the two-set advantage.
  • Converse came back in the third set after posting the 25-21 set victory after a kill by Maddie Mount. The Valkyries tied the match at two sets each with a decisive 25-14 victory in the fourth set.
  • In the fifth set, the Bobcats held an 11-8 edge after a spike by Holley. Converse evened the score at 11 with three straight points and two sides traded points until Lees-McRae had a set-point at 14-12. Converse tied the match once again at 14 all and earned the match victory at 19-17 after three consecutive points to close the set.
  • Madison collected 23 assists in five sets for the Bobcats and Bre Adamson led on the defensive front with a season-best 27 digs. Holley chipped in seven blocks for Lees-McRae as Hailey Gilreath and Annalaine Tew had seven kills apiece.
  • Emore's triple-double is the first triple-double for the women's volleyball program in postseason history.

FOR THE VALKYRIES:
  • Jasmine Finkley produced a team-high 13 kills for Converse on the day as Anna Rabon and Megan Carpenter followed with 12 kills each. Evelyn Fitz joined her teammates with double-digit kills with 11.
  • Savannah Ducote dished out 27 assists for the Valkyries and Mackenzie Day had 27 digs in the match.
UP NEXT:
Lees-McRae women's volleyball finishes the season with an overall record of 7-23 and 6-12 in league play. Stigler led the Bobcats with 295 kills on the 2022 campaign and Goins tallied 587 assists in 30 matches played. Adamson collected a team-high 376 digs for the Bobcats in 29 contests.
