Men's Basketball Scores Season-High 103 Points in Victory over Johnson

BANNER ELK, N.C. – Timon Jones paced the Bobcats with 14 points on the evening and Jeremy Golson followed with 12 as Lees-McRae men's basketball secured the 103-94 victory against Johnson in Banner Elk.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Johnson started the game on a 7-0 run before Jones knocked in the first three points for Lees-McRae at the 17:08 mark of the first half.
  • The Bobcats answered with a 7-2 run capped by a three-pointer via Jeremy Golson with 14:28 remaining in the first. Lees-McRae extended its lead to 35-21 after a slam dunk by Nico Ashley and claimed the 64-45 halftime edge after a made basket by Jaylin Stewart to end the break.
  • Williams Oneyodi extended the Bobcat lead to 21 points to start the second half off a fastbreak layup via a Sydney Dollar assist.
  • Lees-McRae held the double-digit margin throughout the majority of the second half as the Royals closed the contest with an 8-0 run as the Bobcats won 103-94 on Thursday evening. 
  • Jones collected 14 points on 5-9 shooting to go along with four rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Golson earned all his points from beyond-the-arc going 4-8 and grabbing six rebounds in the win.
  • Nico Ashley and Justin Nichelson each chipped in 10 points on a combined 7-10 shooting in the contest.
  • The Bobcats scored a season-high 103 points on 41 made field and 13 three-pointers in the 103-94 victory over Johnson.

FOR THE ROYALS:
  • Emmanuel Atkins led the Royals in the scoring column with 18 points in 12 minutes of action as Daniel Jackson followed with 16 points and Calvin Quehl joined his teammates in double-figures with 12 points and five rebounds.

UP NEXT:
Lees-McRae men's basketball gets back into Conference Carolinas play as the Bobcats head to Belmont Abbey for a 4 p.m. matchup with the Crusaders on Saturday, Dec. 10.
