MARS HILL, N.C. – Mars Hill scored just 12 minutes into the first half to escape with a 1-0 win over the Lees-McRae women's soccer team in the non-conference season opener for both teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lees-McRae opened the game with a shot in the third minute by Haley Lowman, but Mars Hill countered by scoring the lone goal in the 12th minute off a corner kick.
- The Bobcats battled through much of the first half as Priscilla Mawi, Hannah Davies, and Alexa Todd, but the game remained 1-0 at the halftime whistle.
- Both teams continued to battle in the opening minutes of the second half until the weather forced the game to end in the 71st minute.
- Mallory Roughton and Haile Desmarais combined to make two saves in net for the Bobcats.
FOR THE FOES:
- Bailey Whitehead-Price scored for the Lions, while Camryn Miller finished with two saves in net.

The Bobcats will host Lenoir-Rhyne in another non-conference contest on Saturday at 7 p.m.
