Women's Volleyball Drops Match to Emmanuel on Friday Night

BANNER ELK, N.C.  – Sydney Stigler registered double-digit kills for the third match of the season as Lees-McRae women's volleyball fell in three sets to Conference Carolinas opponent Emmanuel on Friday evening.
 
THE BASICS

FINAL SCORE: Emmanuel (Ga.) def. Lees-McRae, 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-23)
LOCATION: McNair & Debi Tornow Court -- Banner Elk, North Carolina
RECORDS: Emmanuel (8-6/4-0), Lees-McRae (1-12/1-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Emmanuel jumped out to a quick start in the first set as the Lions used a six-point run to take the first by a final of 25-12.
  • In the second set, Emmanuel continued with a strong match as the Lions had seven points to take a commanding 8-2 lead early in the set. The Lions took the second by a final of 25-14.
  • The Bobcats did not go away easily in the third set as a four-point swing started by a kill via Rebecca Ryan gave Lees-McRae the 7-3. Lees-McRae tightened the set back up at 22-21 after a block by Annalaine Tew and Destiny Holley. The Lions rallied to close the set and match at a final of 25-23.
  • Stigler led the Bobcats with 10 kills on the evening and added six digs to her season totals. Ryan followed with seven kills and Tew collected nine on the night.
  • Madison Goins dished out 13 assists and Julia Emore tallied four kills and 11 assists on the court. Bre Adamson registered eight digs on the night for the Bobcats on the defensive end.

FOR THE LIONS:
  • Emily Hanson paced Emmanuel with 10 kills and Jocelyn Martin followed with nine in the contest.
  • Gabrielle McGlamery collected 30 assists in the three-set victory and Kaitlyn Henderson had eight digs on the evening.

UP NEXT:
Lees-McRae is back in action tomorrow afternoon on McNair & Debi Tornow Court at 2 p.m. as the Bobcats will face league opponent Erskine
