Mason Scores Career-High 29 Points in Loss at Francis Marion

FLORENCE, S.C. – Sandra Mason scored a career-high 28 points on 10-19 shooting and 6-11 from three-point range as Lees-McRae women's basketball fell to Francis Marion, 97-65, on Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Jala Holloman followed Mason as the senior scored 10 points for  the Bobcats to go along with two steals and 4-4 from the free-throw line.
  • Francis Marion's Trinity Adams knocked down a three with five seconds left in the first quarter as the Patriots held the 24-12 lead after the first 10 minutes.
  • Logan Dutka drained a three-pointer at the buzzer before halftime to cut the deficit back to 17 points as the Bobcats trailed 47-30 after 20 minutes of action.
  • The Patriots pushed their lead to 22 points after three periods of play and took the contest by a final of 97-65 on their home floor.
  • Lees-McRae went 10-25 (40.0%) from three-point range and 11-14 from the charity stripe on the day. Francis Marion held the significant advantage with 31 points off 22 Bobcat turnovers.
  • Aurora Roberts returned for the first time in 18 days for Lees-McRae as the senior forward collected six points, five boards, and four assists for the Bobcats.

FOR THE PATRIOTS:
  • Francis Marion pushed its win streak to 11 contest as Lauryn Taylor tallied a career-high 32 points on 12-16 shooting and six rebounds for the Patriots.
  • Kiana Lee and Jada Richards joined Taylor in double-digit scoring with 21 and 16 points, respectively.
UP NEXT:
Lees-McRae returns to the friendly confines of the McNair & Debi Tornow next Saturday as the Bobcats face Barton at 2 p.m.
