CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Lees-McRae men's cross country picked up a third-place team finish in today's Conference Carolinas Cross Country Championships at McAlpine Park in Charlotte.
Max Geckler led the Bobcats in 12th place individually and garnered All-Conference Carolinas Second Team with the finish.

MEET: Conference Carolinas XC Championships (8K course)
LOCATION: McAlpine Park -- Charlotte, North Carolina
NOTABLES:
- Geckler turned in a time of 25:42.3 for the Bobcats and Ian Kelbert followed in 15th with a time of 25:51.1 and picked up All-Conference Carolinas Third Team honors.
- Josh Brett, All-Conference Carolinas Third Team, continued the strong contingent of Lees-McRae runners in 21st with a time of 26:14.4. Rien Freeman and Cameron Adair rounded out the scoring times for the Bobcats in 31st and 32nd respectively.
- Brennen Pierce recorded a 34th-place finish on the 8K course and Ethan Urichko crossed the line at 42nd.
- Lees-McRae collected third place overall with 111 team points as UNC Pembroke was crowned the league champion with 57 points. Belmont Abbey registered second place overall with 70 points.
- Southern Wesleyan's Ronan O'Neill was named the Conference Carolinas Runner of the Year after crossing the line in first with a time of 24:45.9.
NOTEWORTHY:
- In the 2023 edition of the "Battle for the Blue Ridge Cup", Lees-McRae cross country earned a full point with higher finishes in both the men's and women's races today.

Lees-McRae cross country now heads to Oakwood, Georgia to compete in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Championships on Saturday, November 4.
