SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Converse scored in the 96th minute of the first overtime to advance the Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Quarterfinals as Lees-McRae men's soccer fell 3-2 in Spartanburg on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Caden Pierce recorded the first goal of the game for the Bobcats off an assist from David Garcia in the 27th minute. Converse knotted the match at one goal in the 36th minute after a marker from Joel Houston.
- The Valkyries gained the 2-1 advantage after a penalty kick given to Gabriel Verona.
- The Bobcats did not back down as Gray Smith tied the match once again after finishing the ball from Noah Daragmeh. The two sides ended regulation at two goals apiece and headed into overtime.
- Converse was able to get the go-ahead goal in the 96th minute off a marker from Nicholas Gartung with an assist from Sinan Kilincarslan. The Valkyries held off the Bobcats in the final 15 minutes of the overtime period and advanced to the next round of the Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Championship.
- Sean Green had a career-high 11 saves in goal for the Bobcats, but allowed three goals in 110 minutes.
FOR THE VALKYRIES:
- Gartung, Houston, and Verona scored the goals for Converse and Tim Baerwalde made five saves in goal for the Valkyries.
