Brewster and Marsans Record Double-Digit Kills as Men's Volleyball Falls in Four Sets to No. 9 Grand Canyon

PHOENIX, ARIZ. – Michael Marsans and Nicholas Brewster both recorded season-high kills in tonight's match with No. 9 Grand Canyon. The Bobcats secured the first set, 25-23, but the Lopes rallied for the four-set victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Marsans paced the Bobcats in tonight's contest with Grand Canyon as the senior Outside Hitter tallied a match-high 16 kills on a hitting percentage of .407. Brewster followed with a career-high 11 kills in four sets for Lees-McRae.
  • Bradley Peters continued his impressive senior campaign with 41 assists to go along with four digs and one service ace.
  • Sebastian Heer had a solid night after collecting nine kills and three solo blocks on the night.
  • Lees-McRae bounced back in a big way after last night's loss to Grand Canyon as the Bobcats secured the first set, 25-23, via a Brewster kill.
  • GCU evened the match at one set apiece in the second set at 25-14 after having a hitting percentage of .333 and 10 spikes.
  • The Lopes earned the third set at 25-17 after a kill by Cameron Thorne as GCU elevated their hitting percentage to .438 in the set win.
  • In the fourth set, Lees-McRae started on a 3-0 scoring run with a kill by Marsans and an ace by Peters. The Bobcats pushed their lead to 15-12 on a kill via Ace Backer, but GCU knotted the set score at 17-17. Grand Canyon answered with a four-point swing and took the fourth set at 25-20.

FOR THE ANTELOPES:
  • Jonah Gilbert had 15 kills to lead Grand Canyon in tonight's match and Jackson Hickman joined him in double figures with 11 kills and five digs.
  • Christian Janke registered nine kills, four service aces, and six digs in three sets for the Lopes.
