BELMONT, N.C. –
Nils Schulze drove home his second goal of the season off a corner kick from
Fletcher Dyson in the 25th minute of action, but Lees-McRae men's soccer ultimately fell to Belmont Abbey, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Jesper Jonsson had the first quality chance on goal for the Bobcats but Belmont Abbey's goalkeeper Will Whitman made a nice save over the crossbar with a little under 21 minutes left in the first half.
- Schulze fired in a shot just outside the 18-yard box off a pass from Dyson in the 25th minute to give Lees-McRae the one-goal advantage.
- Jonathan Kienle made four stops in the first half as the Bobcats held the 1-0 lead after 45 minutes of play.
- Belmont Abbey knotted the match at a goal apiece in the 59th minute off a set piece and then grabbed the 2-1 lead in the 63rd minute after a goal off a corner kick.
- Jonsson had one more shot on target off a header for the Bobcats in the 75th minute, but the Crusader Whitman recorded his third save of the day on the shot.
- Belmont Abbey had the shots on advantage at 14-5, and shots on goal at 8-4. The Crusaders also tallied 10 corner kicks to the Bobcats' two.
FOR THE CRUSADERS:
- Jorge Aguilar and Eric Carter scored the goals on the afternoon for Belmont Abbey with Carter's goal being the go-ahead goal in the 63rd minute of play.
- Whitman made three saves in goal for Belmont Abbey.
