BANNER ELK, N.C. – In a matchup of two teams with undefeated records in Conference Carolinas play, Mount Olive women's volleyball picked up the three-set sweep on Saturday over Lees-McRae.
Sydney Stigler had her sixth consecutive match with double-digit kills for the Bobcats and
Lauren Xayavong had a team-high 17 digs in the contest.
THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Mount Olive def. Lees-McRae, 3-0 (25-18, 27-25, 25-23)
LOCATION: McNair & Debi Tornow Court – Banner Elk, North Carolina
RECORDS: Mount Olive (11-5/5-0), Lees-McRae (7-5/4-1)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Trojans took the match in three competitive sets on Saturday afternoon on the McNair & Debi Tornow Court. In the third set, the Bobcats held the 21-20 set lead, but Mount Olive registered three straight points and took the set and match after a kill from Ashlyn Stone.
- Lees-McRae had a .138 hitting percentage to UMO's .229 percentage in the three sets. Mount Olive and the Bobcats tied with 39 total kills in the match.
- Destiny Holley had 11 digs to follow Stigler and Patrycja Rykala added nine kills in the match. Nina Vallesi collected seven kills, two blocks, and one dig.
FOR THE TROJANS:
- Karoline Cox had an efficient match with 11 kills on 17 attacks and a hitting percentage of .647. Neza Pec and Stone followed with eight kills apiece.
- Morgan Prots registered a match-high 19 digs and Jenna Myer added 11 in the contest.
