WILSON, N.C. – Four Lees-McRae women's basketball scored in double digits this afternoon, but the Bobcats had 33 costly turnovers in their 70-60 loss at Barton.
Leah Barringer led the Bobcats with 16 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Barton jumped out to an early 8-2 lead before Barringer buried a three at the 6:24 mark of the first quarter. The Bulldogs knocked down a layup with 39 seconds left in the opening quarter to take the four-point advantage.
- Lees-McRae cut into the Bulldog lead in the second quarter after holding Barton to seven total points. Shayne Burton tied the contest at 24-24, but Barton's Payton Sutton gave the Bulldogs the two-point lead heading into halftime.
- Barton scored 21 points to take the 47-34 margin in the third quarter and held off the Bobcats in the final stanza for the 70-60 win on their home court.
- Barringer had a team-high 16 points to go along with six rebounds and two assists. Emily Barr and Nadiya Hairston each poured in 11 points for the Bobcats. Kirsten Watt joined her teammates in double figures with 10.
- Logan Dutka had an all-around game for the Bobcats with five points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Hairston distributed three assists in the contest.
FOR THE BULLDOGS:
- Lauren Mingo guided Barton to their fifth Conference Carolinas victory of the season with a game-high 23 points on 10-19 shooting. Lauren Walker and Nyla Powell joined Mingo in double-digit scoring with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
- Barton caused 33 Bobcat turnovers on the day and converted 31 points off those turnovers.

Lees-McRae women's basketball hosts King on Tuesday, Jan. 30 in the first edition "Battle for the Blue Ridge Cup" of the 2023-24 season. The contest with the Tornado is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
