Women's Volleyball Sweeps Erskine on Senior Night

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Lees-McRae women's volleyball was firing on all cylinders on Friday night as the Bobcats earned the three-set sweep over Erskine in Conference Carolinas play. Cami Chesler, Hailey Gilreath, Destiny Holley, Patrycja Rykala, and Nina Vallesi were all recognized prior to the match as part of Senior Night festivities.

FINAL SCORE: Lees-McRae def. Erskine, 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-18)
LOCATION: Charlotte Country Day School – Charlotte, North Carolina
RECORDS: Lees-McRae (10-9/2-6), Erskine (5-16/2-10)
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Lees-McRae built a four-point lead in the first set after an attack error on the Flying Fleet. The Bobcats earned a set point after back-to-back hitting errors from Erskine. Holley recorded the first set win with a kill at 25-21.
  • The Bobcats jumped out to an early 7-2 after a 4-0 scoring run in the second set. Lees-McRae used a 3-0 swing to push its lead to 22-19 and Holley sealed the second set with another kill at 25-22.
  • Lees-McRae rallied after trailing 14-10 in the third set. The Bobcats used a five-point run to regain the lead at 15-14. Clara Duarte sent the match to a match point at 24-18 and Erskine hit an attack error for the Bobcats' victory in three sets.
  • Duarte led the Bobcats with 10 kills on a .400 hitting percentage. She tallied three blocks and two digs in the contest.
  • Sydney Stigler followed with nine kills, six digs, two blocks, and one service ace. Vallesi, on senior night, had seven kills, three blocks, and one ace. 
  • Addyson Morgan distributed 31 assists in the match and registered three aces and six digs. Emma Summerfield had a team-high eight digs for the Bobcats.
  • Lees-McRae held Erskine to a .059 hitting percentage in three sets. The Bobcats recorded 36 kills to 17 errors on the night for a .207 hitting percentage.
 
FOR THE FLYING FLEET:
  • Ryleigh Taylor had a match-high 11 kills for the Flying Fleet. Ailena Mykins collected 12 assists in three sets and added nine digs to her season totals.
UP NEXT:
Lees-McRae women's volleyball travels to the campus of Emmanuel University on Monday, October 28 to face the Lions at 7 p.m.
