Women's Volleyball Concludes Season with Five-Set Match against Converse

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Lees-McRae women's volleyball forced a fifth set against Conference Carolinas Northwest Division opponent Converse on Tuesday. The Valkyries earned the five-set victory on the campus of Charlotte Country Day School.

FINAL SCORE: Converse def. Lees-McRae, 3-2 (24-26, 25-17, 25-15, 18-25, 15-13)
LOCATION: Charlotte Country Day School – Charlotte, North Carolina
RECORDS: Converse (19-8/13-4), Lees-McRae (10-18/2-15)
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Bobcats evened the match at two sets apiece with a 25-18 win in the fourth set. Lees-McRae used its best set of the match with a hitting percentage of .361 and held Converse to .156 hitting.
  • Lees-McRae rallied in the fifth set and tied the set score at 12-12 via a Sydney Stigler service ace. Converse used a 2-0 run at the end for the 15-13 set win.
  • Stigler had a match-high 18 kills and recorded a double-double with 17 digs to go along with three aces and two blocks. Clara Duarte joined Stigler in double-digit kills with 11 on a .423 hitting percentage. 
  • Hailey Gilreath collected five kills and 12 digs in the match. Nina Vallesi had 17 digs in five sets played. Brooke Ashkenase recorded 14 digs at libero.
  • Addyson Morgan contributed 18 assists in four sets and Karlee Mainor followed with 16 assists in two sets.
 
FOR THE VALKYRIES:
  • Ariel Bryant recorded a team-high 17 kills on a .293 hitting percentage for Converse. Megan Carpenter tallied 16 kills in five sets and Noemia Chiaccio chipped in 15 for the Valkyries.
UP NEXT:
Lees-McRae women's volleyball concluded its season on Tuesday evening and finished the 2024 campaign with a record of 10-18. Lees-McRae Athletics would like to thank Charlotte Country Day School for hosting the Bobcat women's volleyball team during this time after Hurricane Helene.
