Sydney Hayes had a career-high 15 points on five three-pointers, but Lees-McRae women's basketball fell to Division I opponent Elon, 97-53, on New Year's Eve.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Leah Barringer cut Elon's lead to one point at the 5:52 mark of the first quarter, but Elon ended the opening quarter on a 7-0 run for the 19-10 lead.
- The Phoenix held the Bobcats to seven points in the second quarter and picked up the 97-53 win on Tuesday afternoon.
- Hayes led the Bobcats with 15 points on five three-pointers. Barringer followed with seven points and eight rebounds. Aleysha Hill had six points in 20 minutes of action.
FOR THE PHOENIX:
- Raven Preston paced the Phoenix with 14 points in today's contest. Laila Anderson, Jayda Angel and Kamryn Doty racked up 11 points apiece in the exhibition.
