MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Chowan scored 56 points in the second half to defeat Lees-McRae women's basketball, 91-59, on Saturday afternoon in Murfreesboro.
Nadiya Hairston led three Bobcats in double-digit scoring with 13 points.
Emily Barr and
Essence Sumner had 12 points apiece for the Bobcats.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Chowan ended the first quarter with a three-pointer from Sydney Roberts and led 24-15 after the first 10 minutes of play.
- Barr connected on a triple with 30 seconds left in the first half as Lees-McRae trailed by four points heading into halftime.
- The Hawks used a 34-point third quarter to lead by 22 and earned the 91-59 on their home court on Saturday afternoon.
- Hairston had 13 points in 35 minutes of action for the Bobcats. Barr recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds and Sumner scored 12 points off the bench.
FOR THE HAWKS:
- Tyasia Bunting had a game-high 39 points on 12-19 shooting and 6-10 from three-point range. Yasmine Brown and Meara Carter joined Bunting in double figures with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
UP NEXT:
Lees-McRae women's basketball concludes the regular season with a "Battle for the Blue Ridge Cup" matchup at King on Wednesday, Feb. 28. The contest with the Tornado is slated for a 5:30 p.m. start.
