BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae Head Women's Soccer Coach / Senior Woman Administrator
Cally Morrill has announced Donye' Monroe as the assistant coach for the Bobcat women's soccer program.
"We are adding a fantastic addition personally and professionally to our program with the hiring of Donye'," said Morrill. "She brings a coaching demeanor filled with enthusiasm, passion, and appreciation surrounding the game."
Monroe comes to Banner Elk from Division III member, Manchester University, in North Manchester, Indiana where she served as the head women's soccer for the Spartans in 2023-24. Monroe earned her first coaching victory on September 27, 2023, against Defiance and guided Spartans Jada Carter and Grace Papazoglou to become Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference All Conference honorees. In 2022, Monroe and the Manchester women's soccer program collected 10 Academic All-HCAC honors, and two Spartans earned Honorable Mention All-HCAC recognition.
"I am beyond excited to begin this new journey with the Lees-McRae women's soccer team. The opportunity to inspire and develop young athletes, share my passion for the game, and foster a love for teamwork is truly an honor. I look forward to working with this amazing group of girls and coaching alongside Coach Cally!"
Before joining the staff at Manchester, Monroe served as an assistant soccer coach at Villa Rica High School in Villa Rica, Georgia. She also served as an assistant coach at Bay Springs Middle School and time as a head coach at the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy (CESA).
"Her experience and knowledge will provide immediate impact for our student-athletes and program both on and off the field," said Morrill.
Monroe played for the University of South Carolina Upstate women's soccer team from 2015-17 and earned a bachelor's degree in Sport Management from the University of West Georgia in 2020. Monroe received a master's degree in Sport Management from West Georgia in 2021.
